In a groundbreaking move set to transform the way small businesses showcase their products, the Africa Hair Market is introducing a shelf-based exhibition model.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Sarit Expo Centre, is a collaboration between Africa Is A Planet, an organization committed to sustainability and SME empowerment, and the renowned Global Exhibitions Inc.

Unlike traditional trade fairs, the Africa Hair Market embraces the sharing economy by offering exhibitors an affordable and efficient way to present their products. Instead of renting costly booths, participants will utilize well-lit shelves to display their merchandise in the high-traffic expo space.

Christine Mwende, a representative of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Nairobi Chapter, highlighted the significance of the initiative. “We are committed to creating opportunities that drive growth for SMEs, particularly in industries with high potential for job creation and innovation. The Africa Hair Market provides an accessible platform for small businesses to connect, network, and thrive in a sustainable manner,” she stated.

Edwin Masivo, Country Director of Global Exhibitions Inc., echoed this sentiment. “At Global Exhibitions Inc., we are proud to support this game-changing initiative that aligns with our vision of inclusive business growth,” he said.

Keith Oleng, Projects Manager and founder of Africa Is A Planet, emphasized the economic benefits of this model. “Our goal is to deliver a bustling market environment where stakeholders can exchange value efficiently using a world-class space like Sarit Expo Centre,” he explained.

The event has attracted key industry players, including Joramlocks, a gold sponsor known for its innovative hair solutions, and Domiana Mwangangi of Skin Sol, a champion for skincare innovation. Media personality and entrepreneur Terry Muikamba, founder of Her Way Studios, is also supporting the initiative to uplift women-led businesses.

Adding to the event’s value is the financial literacy conference, Hela Storytellas, now in its fifth edition. This year’s theme, “The Sharing Economy – Exploring How Shared Resources and Responsibilities Create the Best Value in Africa’s Business Landscape,” will provide critical financial insights tailored to professionals in the haircare, skincare, beauty, and fashion industries.
