Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed reports linking him to a new political party, stating that he has no such intentions.

This follows reports from some media outlets that his allies created the Umoja Summit Party (USP) with his backing after the Amani National Congress (ANC) merged with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in January 2025.

In a statement on Sunday, Mudavadi clarified his position through his Director of Press Service, Jacob Ng’etich, emphasizing his commitment to serving the ruling party.

“ For the record and avoidance of doubt, Dr Mudavadi is firmly in the Government under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Administration led by H.E. Dr William Samoei Ruto. Throughout his political life, H.E. Mudavadi has maintained integrity, honesty, and dignity in his way of doing things and has never had a double face,” read the statement in part.

Before joining the government, Mudavadi led the ANC party, which allied with other parties to form the Kenya Kwanza alliance ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Mudavadi has further noted that the  move to merge with UDA was voluntary and endorsed by party members.

After the merger, ANC Party Leader and Lamu Governor Issa Timamy became the Deputy Party Leader of UDA, while ANC Chairperson Kelvin Lunani served as Vice Chairman under Cecil Mbarire.

Emuhaya Member of Parliament Omboko Milemba deputised UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar.
