Kabras Sugar are Kenya Cup champions again!

The millers were crowned the 2024/25 Kenya Cup champions following a 27-26 win over Menengai Oilers at Kakamega ASK Showground Saturday.

The win saw Kabras not only bag a fourth consecutive Kenya Cup title but also stretch their unbeaten run to 41 consecutive matches.

The sugarmen secured two tries in the first half and another in the second enough to hand the Millers the sweet win.

On the other hand, Oilers scored two tries in the second stanza.

Eric Cantona, George Nyambua and Walter Okoth crossed over the white wash for the millers who also scored multiple penalties through Ntabeni Dukisa.

Kabras coach Carlos Katywa, despite winning the match with a narrow margin, he was disappointed over what he said his boys lacked discipline.

“We have won the match, a win is a win, but I am disappointed because my boys did not take in instructions as required, and that is what cost us because we could not have won by one point,” said Katywa.

He added: “We have a final in the next two weeks, and we are going to improve on our areas of weaknesses, but my boys decided to play their own game that we did not earlier plan, but we are thankful for the Rai family for supporting this competition.”

Menengai Oilers coach Gibson Weru commended his boys for putting on a good fight, promising to get revenge ahead of the Enterprise Cup final with Kabras.

“I think the kicking game of the Kabras was efficient, and it cost us, but we put on a good fight despite missing a lot of opportunities, and some few injuries also contributed to our loss. All the same, we are well prepared for the next Enterprise final, and I am confident that we are going to win,” said Weru.
