Deputy President
Kithure Kindiki has said that he will do his job as President William Ruto’s assistant with dedication.

Speaking in
Limuru, Kiambu County, on Friday, Kindiki said he will assist the President in
improving roads, building markets, connecting electricity to homes and improving
milk business.

“This job I have
been given as Deputy President, I will push it like a car carrying miraa. This
job I have been given to help the president to improve roads in Kiambu, markets,
electricity, and the milk business,” he said.

The DP stated
that just like he did his job at the Ministry of Interior for two years, which he
has no regrets at all about, he will also deliver in the country’s second highest
office.

“In the last two
years I was the Minister of Interior, I lived in Boni Forest permanently. I
used to come to Nairobi in the evening and go back. When I left Boni Forest, I was
in Shakahola, North Eastern for al Shabaab, Laikipia, Baringo and Turkana for
bandits. I did my job well and I have no regrets for the two years I was in
that ministry.

“When given a job,
you do it. In Lamu, almost half of that county are people who are originally
from Mt Kenya. When I went there in 2022 when Ruto was President our people and
their colleagues who are in Lamu were being killed like flies by al-Shabaab. I camped
there, and peace was achieved,” Kindiki said.

He urged leaders not
to look down on other people when they get the opportunities to serve in public
office.

He insisted that
this should instead be seen as a God-given opportunity to serve the people and
not to feel special.

“If you are lucky,
it doesn’t mean you are more important than other people. If you get a chance and
the people have given you a job as president, deputy president, minister, MP,
MCA, don’t pretend you are more important than others; God has given you the
opportunity. Work because you have the opportunity to serve the people,”
Kindiki stated.

The DP was accompanied by National Assembly Majority Leader
Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, MPs John Kiragu
(Limuru), Anne Muratha (Kiambu Woman Representative), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika
Town), MCAs and representatives of various small-scale businesses were in
attendance.
