Kenyan music sensation Stivo Simple Boy has set his sights on politics, revealing his intention to contest for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Kibra constituency come 2027.

The ‘Dragon Moto Testing’ hitmaker disclosed that his political journey would begin at the grassroots level, with the aim of eventually rising through the ranks.

“Umesema mimi ni balozi mtajika wa raha lakini pia mimi ni kiongozi mtarajiwa wa Kibra. Ninataka kuanza na kiti ndogo tukipanda juu,” declared the ‘Vijana Tuwache Mihadarati’ singer, affirming his readiness to lead.

Stevo noted that his motivation stemmed from observing the daily struggles faced by the youth in Kibra, challenges that, according to him, most elected leaders have failed to address.

High unemployment rates and the lack of sufficient bursaries for students are among his top concerns.

“Vijana wengi hawana kazi na hawajawahi saidiwa na yeyote. Shida nyingine ni bursary. Kuna watu hawajawahi pata bursary na nikiwa kiongozi nitawasaidia kwa iyo sector,” he stated firmly.

The Freshi Barida singer lamented the widespread corruption in leadership, which he claimed has left many school-going children out of class due to unfulfilled bursary promises.

These funds, intended to support underprivileged learners, often disappear through mismanagement.

“Kuna vitu vingi ambavyo naweza fanya, hakuna mambo ya kulia lia. Huwezi huwa kiongozi umechaguliwa lakini hakuna kazi unafanya. Ni maokoto unakula tu na tumbo kukuwa kubwa,” he added, criticising leaders who misuse public funds while failing to deliver services to their constituents.

Despite politics often being labelled a ‘dirty game,’ Stevo expressed confidence in his vision and mission, saying he was not deterred by the negative reputation surrounding political leadership.

“Najua politics is a dirty game lakini ukichagua kiongozi ambaye anafaa atafanya kazi. Kwa mfano ni Peter Salasya ambaye ako kwa siasa na anawahudumia watu wake,” said the Glory singer, praising Mumias East MP Peter Salasya for his grassroots approach and community dedication.
