A 31-year-old Kenyan man has opened up on how he fell in love with Ilona, a 55-year-old woman from the Czech Republic.
The Kenyan man, identified as Frank, revealed that they met on TikTok, and despite being broke, unlike his partner, he persistently tried to woo her until it finally paid off.
Frank noted that he was attracted to Ilona and shot his shot at her on the popular social media platform.
“Nilikutana na yeye kwa TikTok Live na nikaanza kufuatilia content yake pole pole since hatukuwa tunajuana. Nikaanza kumtext vitu kama ‘Hey baby, come to Kenya,’ juu unajua mwanamme nikujituma,” he said on Oga Obinna’s YouTube show.
The 31-year-old stated that Ilona had asked people wooing her on TikTok and asking her to come to Kenya to send Sh.100 only.
Frank heeded the call, sent the amount, and this caught the attention of Ilona, who had seemingly made this request to test the kindness and generosity of the men wooing her.
“Nilikuwa naona watu apo kwa comment section wakimkatia na wakimshow akuje Kenya. So Ilona akasema wasee watume sh.100 ndio akuje Kenya. Mimi nikatuma na apo ndio Ilona akafall in love na mimi,” Frank narrated.
According to him, Ilona texted him while at work and inquired if they could talk in a very romantic way.
She also started sending him money for simple gifts such as chocolate, amongst others.
“Alianza kunitext na kunitumia Sh.1000 or Sh.500 for chocolate na vitu zingine,” he said.
After they started talking and having emotions towards each other, Ilona came to Kenya.
“Sometimes in life, you have to take risks. If it works, great. If not, move on,” the 31-year-old said, recalling how that one decision changed his life completely.
Frank narrated that when she landed in Kenya, he went to pick her up in Mombasa from Ukunda. He stated that he works as a plumber in Ukunda. Frank was nervous since he didn’t have enough money for the fare to get back to his place, but the Czech Republic national gave him Sh.1000 to cover the expenses. In his words, this act of kindness made him feel so thankful.
“When she landed in Kenya, ilibidi nimpick huko Mombasa lakini sikuwa na fare ya kurudi home. Vile Ilona alirealize sina hizo pesa alinipea one thousand shillings ya kulipa fare,” he said.
Inquired if they face any stigmatisation from their friends and family, and he stated that he didn’t like dwelling on negative opinions.
Since they were popular on TikTok, Frank stated that people tend to comment negatively, yet enquire if they could get an older woman to get into a relationship with.
“Mimi sipendi negative energy around me na watu wanaweza comment vibaya alafu wanaanza kuniambia kama wanaweza pata ata wa seventy years,” he said.
Ilona shared about their plans to get married.
