Former Deputy President yesterday made an appearance on Obinna’s podcast and led people into his past personal life.
The episode which has since blown up and garnered over half a million views in less than 14 hours was nothing but explosive.
On the other hand, Rigathi Gachagua opened up about his lesser-known past as a DJ in the 1980s, delighting fans with tales of his musical ventures and breakdancing days.
Gachagua, known for his political career, shared that he pursued DJing both for fun and profit during his younger years.
Operating under the moniker Jaguar Disco , (coined from his official name Gachagua), the mobile disco business was a hit, and he would charge charging approximately Sh 1,500 per night for his services.
“This was a lot of money back then,” he said. While showcasing is grap of music all the way from Mugithi, Soul music as well as Country music.
To kickstart his venture, Gachagua said he invested around Sh 25,000 in a sound system, a significant sum at the time, which allowed him to entertain crowds with popular tracks from artists like Kool & The Gang and Michael Jackson.
“At the current valuation, the system would cost around 20 million,” he said.
Beyond spinning records, Gachagua revealed he was also an avid breakdancer, showcasing his moves from time to time.
The former deputy president’s love for music continues to this day. He disclosed that he acquired a band that keeps him entertained at home.
“Since Mama Boys is a pastor, I can’t take her to a discothegue since there is a lot of alcohol and people smoking, among many other things. So I bring the disco to her and dance the night away.”
