The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has trained security personnel on campus safety and emergency response.

The national training
programme is aimed at enhancing campus safety and emergency response capabilities
among its security personnel.

KMTC said the training seeks to equip the officers with skills
to protect the students and to enhance their response to emergencies.

The training acted as part of the college’s strategic
commitment to fostering a safe, secure, and student-centred learning
environment.

The Deputy Director of Finance, Planning, and Administration, Lucy
Chebungei commended the security teams
for their commitment to duty and encouraged them to remain vigilant in
protecting students, staff, and college property.

Chebungei, who represented the CEO Dr Kelly Oluoch was speaking during the official closing ceremony held on May 16, 2025.

“This training equips our personnel with critical skills to
promptly identify and report potential threats to the relevant security
agencies,” Chebungei said.

Chebungei emphasised that the training covered a wide range
of safety and emergency preparedness topics, including early threat detection,
effective response protocols, and inter-agency coordination.

The programme also included modules on customer service and
professional conduct, with a focus on improving the quality of interaction
between security personnel and campus stakeholders.

Chebungei emphasised the critical importance of fostering
respectful engagement within learning institutions.

She noted that such an
environment not only promotes academic excellence but also encourages open
dialogue, mutual understanding and the development of both students and
educators.

“Beyond safety, we are empowering our teams to deliver
service courteously and professionally,” Chebungei said.

The college believes that well-trained security staff play a
vital role not only in physical safety but also in promoting a positive
learning atmosphere.

 By equipping its
personnel with both technical and interpersonal skills, KMTC aims to ensure
that students and staff can thrive in an environment where safety is
prioritised.

The training exercise reflects KMTC’s ongoing investment in
staff development and institutional excellence.

The ceremony brought together officers from KMTC campuses
across the country.
