Deputy President Kithure Kindiki speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast at Safari Park on May 28, 2025/DPCS

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on all Kenyans
to strive to build good relationships across generations.

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday,
Kindiki said it is the best way for a country to deal with many of its affairs.

He insisted that no generation is superior to the other and that
intergenerational solidarity is very important.

The DP said the young and the old must have sustainable friendships.

“I totally agree with the speakers of the day about the need
to build relationships. It is not only Godly but that is the most cost
effective way to handle our affairs.

“We must build good relations and sustain them. In the same
manner, we need to build relationships across generations, the older people, and
parents of today, young adults, and young children. That intergenerational friendship
and solidarity is important. No generation is superior or important than the
other,” Kindiki said.

He noted that this should extend to neighbouring countries
as well, noting that some of the exchanges that have been going on social media
between leaders and young people are not to be proud of.

Kindiki said these exchanges do not give the country a good
picture.

The Deputy President added that it is at such gatherings, as
the National Prayer Breakfast such issues are resolved.

“While we are at that relation building process I’m happy to
see our brothers and sisters from neighbouring countries. I say that we need to
work on this relationships continuously and some of the exchanges we have seen
between our leaders, we must use a moment like this to arrest those situations
because it doesn’t look tidy when brothers and sisters are talking at each
other.”

He noted that the Prayer Breakfast is a good tradition
because when the country goes back to prayer it finds solutions to the problems
it is facing.

The DP added that the breakfast helps to reflect on common
destiny and take stock of how far the country has come.

“It is good to examine ourselves at every point, reflect and
take stock so that we are not on one continuous journey making good speed but
without the reflection to understand whether we are doing things right. Many
times when we reflect we will find areas to correct, improve and make the
journey ahead even better.”
