A section of leaders allied to President William Ruto and ODM Leader Raila Odinga across the country are now accusing the opposition wing led by Democracy for the Citizens Party(DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, of falsifying abductions.

This comes as controversy continues to surround the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament(MP) George Koimburi.

The National Police Service (NPS) has since distanced itself from claims that it abducted the lawmaker, stating that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances under which the lawmaker was allegedly seized and later found abandoned in a coffee plantation.

Speaking in Chevoso Ward, Malava Constituency, Kakamega County, during a women’s group fundraising drive led by the

President’s personal Aide, Faouk Kibet, leaders alleged that the opposition has run out of ideas and agenda and has resorted to self-abductions to paint President Ruto’s government as one abducting its critics.

“We have seen our opponents faking abductions to whip emotions because they have run out of ideas. Their one-term plan has failed, and they have decided to prove a point by self-abductions when we know the said MP abducted himself according to our able sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI),” said Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.

The leaders accused former DP Gachagua and his DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala of being behind the scheme, urging the DCI to unravel the puzzle surrounding the abduction claims.

“His team is the one doing the alleged abduction being reported, and he is the team leader. We want DCI to investigate and bring the matter to rest, and if it is true our colleague faked his abductions, our detectives should ensure he faces the law and possibly arraignment,” said Navakholo lawmaker Emmanuel Wangwe.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah alleged Gachagua is the mastermind behind the fake abductions.

“We have seen our colleagues being directed by their director, who was impeached to fake his abduction so that he can promote his meaningless divisive politics, and we want to tell them that they will not succeed,” said Ichung’wah.

Ichung’wah urged Kenyans not to be duped by Gachagua and instead support President Ruto, who is actualising his pledges.

President Ruto’s aide, Farouk, urged the opposition to focus on selling the agenda and not tribal politics while accusing the opposition figures of meddling and breaking the laws of foreign countries.

“We urge our people to support the broad-based government that is preaching peace and unity and selling an agenda, and desist from listening to leaders advancing tribalism. We want to tell our opposition to stop their bad manners of meddling with the internal affairs of our good neighbours, and they should face the music,” said Farouk.

Farouk slammed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya for asking him to stop meddling with the affairs of the Western region.

“We have a governor from Trans Nzoia County telling me not to visit Kakamega and Western region, and yet he is not empowering his people, and I want to tell him that he won’t stop me,” said Farouk.

Migori Women Representative Fatuma Mohammed and her Trans Nzoia counterpart Lilian Siyoi accused Gachagua of using opposition lawmakers to fake abductions, urging their counterparts to be careful.

“One of our colleagues faked his abductions, and yet he was someone enjoying himself with someone. We want to tell our counterparts in opposition to be very careful because they are being used by their master to paint a bad picture against the government,” said Siyoi.

The leaders vowed to support President Ruto in the 2027 general election under a broad-based arrangement.

“We are fully in broad-based government because we have seen it working, we have witnessed developments because of the peace and unity that is prevailing spearheaded by President Ruto and Raila and we are going to stand with the two in 2027 and not those perpetuating divisive politics from opposition side,” said Likoni MP Mishi Mboko.

Likuyani lawmaker Innocent Mugabe urged Western leaders to support the broad-based government because of ongoing development projects and the proposed expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway and the expansion of the Nakuru-Naivasha-Malaba border.

Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali, Shinyalu lawmaker Fred Ikana and Kibwezi West legislator Mwengi Mutuse vowed to block and decampaign the DCP party from making inroads in the Western region.

“We have a new party that is promoting tribalism, and some of our leaders have boarded the tribal party, but for us who are in a broad-based government, we are going to remain united and support this government for development,” said Ikana.
