Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has rained insults on Members of Parliament elected from the Mount Kenya region for their unconditional loyalty to President William Ruto.

Speaking at AIPCA Gatumbi church in Lari Constituency, Kiambu County on Sunday, Gachagua called the leaders foolish for following the president blindly.

“How foolish are you, members of parliament from this region? William Ruto is laughing at you. The people from his community, he takes them to the military, to the police, to NYS, to KRA,” said Gachagua.

He claimed that the MPs have kept low as the president sidelines the Mt.Kenya region in regards to employment opportunities.

The former DP questioned how the leaders could be so comfortable when the youth from his community are being rendered useless.

He alleged that the youth from the region are being used to incite violence and drink alcohol.

“When the history of this community is written, the members of parliament from this community will have a whole chapter of the most foolish leaders ever elected in the Mount Kenya region,” he added.

“You are an embarrassment to the people of this region. And I cannot, I cannot fathom just how stupid a leader can be. It is very embarrassing to us as a people, as a community

He said that the leaders are now following the president’s orders blindly without posing any contradictions.

Gachagua also rubbished the apology recently made by the president to the Gen-Zs.

“How do you issue Ruto apologise about the loss of lives in such a casual manner? People were abducted, and there is no ‘if’ it happened. If you are serious about making an apology to the people who were abducted and those who were killed, you should invite the parents of those who were abducted to offer a proper apology and compensate them,” he said.

He was echoing ODM leader Raila Odinga’s  sentiments during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Homabay County today.

Raila had also called for the compensation; “President Ruto asked for forgiveness at the National Prayer Breakfast. That was a good start. But we must go further—there should be closure. Families who lost their sons and daughters must be compensated. It’s the only way to heal and move forward”.

Odinga urged the government to compensate families who were affected by the Gen Z protests to complete what he described as national healing.
