Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has been honoured as a
protector of the Earth, a change maker and a peace builder at the We Care for
Humanity Royal Summit in Las Vegas, in the United States.
According to Nyamu, the award is not only recognition for
her journey in leadership but also dedication to service to the people and
transformation.
“It is with humility and indeed immense gratitude that I
accept this extraordinary honor the knighting of the Royal Maharlika as a
protector of the Earth, a change maker and a peace builder for peace builder.
“I extend my sincere thanks to We Care for Humanity, the
Royal Maharlika and the Sultanate of Magindanaw for recognizing, not just my
personal journey, an enduring spirit of resilience, service and transformation
that defines the people of Kenya, and particularly the people of Nairobi
County, whom I proudly serve,” she said after receiving the award.
The award makes her a Knight of the Royal Maharlika, which
is under the Sultanate of Magindanaw.
The Royal Sultanate of Magindanaw is a sovereign monarchy in
the southern part of the Philippines.
The award comes with scholarships opportunities and startups capital which will be awarded to youths in Nairobi in partnership with various global philanthropists
The senator dedicated the award to all who strive for change
with courage, no matter what might hold them back.
“It is true that I did my campaign for this position that I
hold, while very pregnant, not to prove a point, but because duty demanded it.
That journey has taught me that leadership is not defined by ease or comfort,
but by commitment. Whether you’re a parent, a student, a farmer, a public
servant, know this, you can lead, you can serve, and you can do so with power
and grace and purpose.”
Nyamu reiterated that the award will only strengthen her
resolve to keep pushing the limits and expanding opportunities for the upcoming
generations.
“To every young person in Kenya and beyond, do not shrink
your dreams to fit the moment. Rise, speak, act, the world is waiting for what
only you can offer.”
She thanked Queen Mariam Torres Mastura of Maharlika and We Care
for Humanity for the award.
