Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing projects that directly benefit local residents.

Speaking in Oldonyiro Sub-County during Madaraka Day celebrations, Governor Guyo highlighted several key initiatives delivered over the past two years.

These, include the drilling and equipping of 52 boreholes, a major upgrade of the Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital (ICTRH), equipping the Accident and Emergency Centre, issuing letters of allotment, and the upgrading of 1.5 kilometres of the Kachewa–Ola Jarole–Makaburini Road in Bula Pesa Ward to bitumen standard.

Additionally, 9.5 kilometres of the Shabani–Alamach Road in Burat Ward have been murramed.

He emphasised that the water sector remains a top priority, aligning with his manifesto and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023–2027. “My government has recently advertised the construction of key water infrastructure in Modogashe, which has lacked potable water for over 60 years. We are also laying a 10-kilometre HDPE pipeline for Dadachabasa,” said Governor Guyo.

On healthcare, he revealed that two new state-of-the-art ambulances will soon be procured to improve emergency response and referrals. Plans are also underway to supply new hospital beds and establish a dedicated cardiology clinic.

In remote regions, significant milestones include operationalising the Parkuruk dispensary, equipping the Lenguruma maternity wing in Oldonyiro, and setting up an Eye Unit at Garbatulla Level 4 Hospital, where over 200 cataract surgeries have been successfully conducted.

To bolster food security and climate resilience, the county has established irrigation schemes in Gabaya and Tiyole (Kinna Ward) and rehabilitated Elsa Ntirim in Burat Ward, supporting year-round farming. In the education sector, his administration has provided fortified porridge to 15,000 ECDE learners, hired 38 new teachers, and built 25 new classrooms.
