Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, is making digital waves with a bold new plan to amplify his social media presence, by hiring 100 bloggers to help push his political messaging, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where he admits he has been struggling.

Taking to his X account, the youthful and often outspoken MP announced his intent in typical Salasya fashion—direct and unfiltered.

“Looking for 100 bloggers to be paid directly by me. Just text me your number and I will definitely call back, so as to help me push my agenda on X. Am doing badly on X,” he posted, even going as far as to publicly share his contact information.

The post has drawn mixed reactions online. While some praised his proactive approach to political branding, others questioned whether hiring a digital army was the best way to gain authentic support especially on a platform known for its brutal honesty and politically savvy users.

But Salasya’s move is part of a much broader strategy. The first-term MP has recently embarked on a countrywide tour, rallying support for what he claims is a very real shot at the presidency in the 2027 general election.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank people of Eastleigh Nairobi for turning up in large numbers to listen to me. My presidential bid of 2027 is real,” Salasya wrote in a follow-up post. “We have agreed I visit Mandera, Wajir, Marsabit, and Garissa after my homecoming this Saturday. ASANTE sana Isili.”

Known for his charismatic speeches and unconventional approach to politics, Salasya has managed to keep himself in the headlines—whether through viral videos or controversial soundbites. His social media, particularly TikTok and Facebook, has enjoyed strong traction among younger voters, but he says X remains a weak spot.
