Kenyan Senator Karen Nyamu has once again captured public attention, but this time, from a queue at a U.S. airport.

In a now-viral video, Nyamu is seen jokingly interacting with airport staff while waiting in line. With her trademark boldness and humor, she quipped, “I am a VIP in my country. A senator flying first class, why am I in this line?”

Her comment, clearly made in jest, sparked laughter and quickly ignited reactions across social media.

A young staff member, maintaining professionalism and composure, calmly explained that the queue was part of the airport’s boarding process and not something they personally controlled.

The lighthearted exchange ended with Nyamu flashing a smile and playfully telling the staffer, “You’re so cute.”

The trending clip has stirred a range of reactions online. Some fans praised her candid energy and saw the interaction as harmless.

In contrast, others felt her comments hinted at entitlement, questioning whether VIP culture has a place in international settings where protocols are standardized.

One user, @sean_gridadis, commented, “Unaeza pata senator ni chef uko.” Another, @gitauNjeri, said, “Oooh ‘you’re so cute’… eeeeii Karen, wachana na watoto wa wenyewe.” @Tirop added, “Kuna ka roho ka usherati kanaendelea,” while @ngendo noted, “Ashaanza kurusha mistari guyz.”

Karen Nyamu is no stranger to the limelight.

Just recently, she stated that she remains unapologetic about her behaviour, despite public scrutiny.

The outspoken lawmaker admitted that adjusting to the expectations that come with her role has not been easy.

“Why should I be apologetic? One thing with me, I do not like faking, and I struggle with that. I have this position where I have to act in a certain way, and I keep forgetting. Mnisamehee,” she said.

“Unajua mi ni dem wa ghetto, niko na ughetto, so mnisamehee, mimi husahau,” she added, referring to her upbringing and informal, down-to-earth personality.

Nyamu has been a controversial figure in Kenya’s political landscape, often drawing criticism for her unconventional approach to leadership and her presence on social media.
