[PHOTOS] Police clash with protesters ahead of Budget reading

Protesters take to the Nairobi streets to demonstrate against the murder of Albert Ojwang on June 12, 2025/LEAH MUKANGAI

There were running battles in the Nairobi Central Business
District as protesters clashed with police officers.

Protests erupted in Nairobi CBD as Kenyans came out to demonstrate
against the death of Albert Ojwang.

Ojwang was arrested in Homa Bay and brought to Nairobi
Central Police Station, where he died in the cells.

Kenyans and leaders have come out to condemn the act, saying
it is a violation of human rights.

Police lobbed tear gas canisters at a group of protesters in
the city centre.

The group was dispersed by anti-riot police waiting
outside the National Police Service headquarters, Jogoo House.

There was a contingent of police as they prevented
protestors from accessing Parliament Road.

This comes at a time when the Finance CS John Mbadi is
expected to read the Budget 2025/ 2026.
