Tanzanian content creator Sabato Peter is trending after applauding Kenyan Gen Zs for their courage during recent protests sparked by the death of blogger Albert Ojwang’ in police custody.
The demonstrations, which began on June 9, 2025, near Nairobi’s Central Police Station, drew national attention, especially from young people demanding justice and police accountability.
Speaking on his platform, Sabato noted that Kenyans dislike dishonesty and expect straightforwardness from public figures.
“Kenya ni nchi ambayo watu wake hawapendi ujanja. Kama umefanya kitu, jua umekifanyeje?” he said.
He emphasized that the protests stemmed from the police’s failure to explain Ojwang’s death.
“Nimekuwa nikiona maandamano yao kuhusu swala la kifo cha Ojwang’ na polisi wameshindwa kusema ni kwa nini akafa… Wakenya wakaamua kuandamana,” he added.
Sabato praised Kenyans for standing up against injustice, sharing how impressed he was by videos of protesters bravely confronting police.
“Pale kwenye maandamano, polisi wanawarushia mabomu ya machozi na Wakenya wanawarudishia… Hawaogopi mabomu ama risasi,” he said.
He also highlighted a video of a youth challenging an armed police officer, commending the boldness displayed by the demonstrators.
“Nimeona video ya mtu amemfuata polisi aliye na bunduki na haogopi. Wakenya ni watu hawaogopi chochote aisee,” he shared.
Sabato concluded by expressing support for Kenyans seeking justice for Ojwang’, a 31-year-old father and friend.
“Haiwezekani kwamba watu wanakufa ovyo ovyo. Ojwang’ kafeje kwa mikononi mwa polisi?”
The case is still under investigation. Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has stepped down, while Kenyans are now pushing for his prosecution. Chief Inspector Samson Talaam, Constable James Mukhwana, and two civilians who were in custody during the incident have already been arrested.
