Former Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Men’s Premier League champions Ulinzi Warriors had a successful weekend bagging maximum points from their two outings.

Warriors, who have since recovered from a slow start to the season, triumphed over Strathmore University Blades 71-59 and Equity Bank Dumas 74-60 to enhance their chances of a top three finish ahead of the league play-offs.

With the victory, Warriors maintained the second spot with 34 points, six less than unbeaten defending champions Nairobi City Thunder who top the table with 40 points from 20 matches.

Ulinzi on the other hand have won 14 and lost six matches. Former Laiser Hill Academy star Brans Nzioka starred for the soldiers with 19 points, while Simon Rapudo and Elisha Odhiambo who have also been impressive for Warriors this season added 15 and 14 points respectively.

Captain Davis Siaji top scored for the bankers with 13 points.

Former holders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are third with 31 points same as fourth placed Equity Dumas.

The bankers bagged three points from their 84-82 win against United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Tigers and loss to Warriors are fourth with 31 points.

Tigers, Blades, National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix and University of Nairobi (UoN Terror) are stuck in the bottom four and in a serious battle to evade the relegation axe.

In the women’s title hunt, defending champions Equity Bank Hawks had a bad outing, suffering defeats at the hands of Zetech University Sparks (61-69) and Stanbic Aces (57-66).
