President William Ruto has promoted and appointed senior officers to lead key military units, reshaping defence leadership.

In a dispatch by the Ministry of Defence Director of Communication Temesi Mukani on Friday, June 27, Ruto promoted Major General David Ketter to Lieutenant General and appointed him Commander Kenya Army after Lieutenant General David Tarus was redeployed to the National Defence University, Kenya as Vice Chancellor.

Ketter was Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of personnel and logistics.

Ruto also appointed Major General Bernard Waliaula as Commander Kenya Air Force, replacing Major General Fatuma Ahmed, who retired after forty-two years of service. Waliaula was the Director of Defence National Security Industries.

The President promoted Brigadier Joel Marimi to Major General and appointed him Commandant Kenya Military Academy after he served as Commander Armoured Brigade.

Ruto further promoted Brigadier Joyce Sitienei to Major General and appointed her Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic and Security Studies at the National Defence University of Kenya. Sitienei was the Director of the International Peace Support Centre.

In additional changes, Ruto promoted Brigadier Faustino Lobaly to Major General and appointed him Director of National Defence Security Industries.

 Brigadier Charles Mwazighe became Major General and Director of the International Peace Support Centre.

Brigadier Mohamed Iddi was promoted to Major General and appointed Director at the Directorate of Oversight, Compliance and Accountability.

Brigadier Edward Rugendo was promoted to Major General and appointed Director of Personnel and Logistics, while Brigadier Richard Mwanzia became Major General and Senior Directing Staff, Army at the National Defence College.

Ruto also promoted Colonel Said Mwacharo to Brigadier and appointed him Chief of Infrastructure, and Colonel Meshack Kishoyian to Brigadier as Commander 6 Brigade.

In the Air Force, Colonel Herbert Wafula was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Base Commander of Moi Airbase. Colonel Ismail Noor became a Brigadier and Deputy Managing Director at Kenya Ordnance Factories Limited and Food Processing Factory.

Colonel Victor Kang’ethe was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director of National Air Support Department, while Colonel Rodah Mwasiowa was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Compensation and Welfare at Defence Headquarters.

In the Navy, Brigadier Timothy Lekolool was promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff at the National Defence College. Colonel Ronald Makori became Brigadier and Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy, while Colonel Peter Muthungu was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Head of Production at Kenya Shipyard Limited.

 Lieutenant Colonel Wilfrida Omolo was promoted to Colonel and appointed Commander Kenya Navy Logistics, while Lieutenant Colonel Safari Kalume became Colonel and Senior Directing Staff, Navy Joint Warfare Centre.
