Former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars forward Boniface Ambani has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the club’s upcoming elections, unveiling an ambitious blueprint aimed at restoring the club’s former dominance in Kenyan and African football.

Speaking at a colourful manifesto launch held at the KCB Simba Auditorium in Upper Hill on Thursday, Ambani introduced his reform agenda dubbed #IPOSIKU, a Swahili phrase loosely translating to “the day has come.” The launch comes just three days before Leopards head to the polls to elect new officials.

Backed by a team of seasoned football administrators and professionals, Ambani presented a comprehensive 11-point plan titled the “Starting XI”, which he says is built on transparency, accountability, and inclusion. At the heart of his message was a rallying call to fans and stakeholders to help steer Ingwe back to its rightful place at the top of African football.

“AFC Leopards has a rich history, but we cannot ignore the challenges that have eroded public and stakeholder confidence over the years,” Ambani said.
“This is the moment to reset the club’s direction. Through IPOSIKU, we want to revive the soul of this club and return it to the people.”

Ambani’s manifesto outlines reforms in four priority areas: modernizing the club’s brand, developing infrastructure, improving fan and branch engagement, and establishing prudent financial practices.

Among the standout proposals are:

Installing a capable, accountable leadership team that can foster better relations with FKF, CAF, and FIFA. Also creating a structured pipeline for youth talent and investing significantly in the women’s team through training, equipment, and increased coaching opportunities. He plans the construction of standard training pitches, well-equipped club offices, and transparency in all project dealings. He also says he intends to diversify income through merchandise, ticketing, and an ongoing deal with a potential kit sponsor already in advanced talks.Establishing a club-funded medical kitty to support players with career-threatening injuries and integrating club legends in development program and forming new departments including legal, marketing, and monitoring units for efficient service delivery.

Ambani emphasized the importance of reforming the club’s constitution, promoting capacity-building for club personnel, and involving fans at every level.

“We are committed to a fresh start for Ingwe. The ‘Starting XI’ is our promise to deliver results through integrity and shared vision,” he affirmed.

Ambani’s candidacy has attracted endorsements from within the football community. FKF Head of Projects and National Teams, Athanus Obango Obala, who worked with Ambani at the club, declared his full support.

“Ambani’s passion for this club is unmatched. He’s the right man for the job,” Obala said.

Former club CEO Ronald Namai also endorsed Ambani, urging fans to “vote for someone they can trust to protect the club’s legacy and future.”

The manifesto launch was attended by key AFC Leopards officials, including outgoing treasurer Oliver Napali, acting secretary general Caroline Walusaga, and NEC member Diana Obayi. Nairobi MCAs Clarence Munga and Hamisi Maleya were also present.

As Leopards prepare for their crucial elections on Sunday, June 29, all eyes will be on the next leadership team to succeed Dan Shikanda’s administration — and whether Ambani’s vision can spark the revival fans have long been yearning for.
