The Registrar of Political Parties has upheld former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the leader of the Jubilee Party, bringing to a close years of internal wrangles.

In a Gazette Notice issued on Monday, June 30, Registrar Ann Nderitu said the changes follow a consent filed in High Court civil appeal, in which Jubilee sought to make leadership changes within the party.

The new structure sees nominated MP Sabina Chege and EALA MP Kanini Kega, who had briefly declared themselves party leaders, removed from their positions.

Uhuru Kenyatta retains his role as party leader, with Jeremiah Kioni remaining Secretary General.

Beatrice Gambo replaces Jimmy Angwenyi as deputy party leader in charge of strategy. Other deputy party leaders include Kudos Muiruri, who will handle outreach, and Joseph Manje, who will lead programmes.

David Murathe remains the deputy national chairman, while Yasin Noor takes over as deputy secretary general, replacing Joshua Kutuny. The party also named Saitoti Torome as the new national chairperson, replacing Nelson Dzuya, while Pauline Njoroge assumes the role of deputy organising secretary, succeeding Mutava Musyimi.

Those retained in their positions include Wanja Maina as Chair for Persons with Disabilities, Abdulkadir Haji as National Organising Secretary, and Kagwe Gichohi as Party Treasurer.

The Jubilee Party has been rocked by leadership disputes since the Kenya Kwanza administration came into power. The Kega-led faction argued that Uhuru, being a retired President, should not continue to lead the party. The group had taken over leadership roles, with Sabina Chege acting as party leader and Kanini Kega as Secretary General.

However, in 2024, the High Court overturned a decision by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) that had allowed them to assume control of the party, handing a reprieve to Kenyatta and his loyalists.
