Three suspects have been arrested in Embakasi on suspicion of breaking into a godown in Embakasi.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in a statement on Wednesday said the three are suspected to have made away with property from the godown, which is located along Mombasa Road.

DCI said the suspects allegedly infiltrated the facility by going over the wall and cutting through the iron sheet roof.

They then gained access to the offices and got away with a large quantity of electronics, including two laptops, a Microsoft Surface and a Razer, a Huawei iPad and a Soundlink Mini speaker, alongside other valuable possessions.

The suspects are being held in custody, with processing underway prior to appearing before court to face charges.

Cases of burglary have been on the rise, with the police conducting a crackdown to arrest suspects and any accomplices, including shops that purchase items suspected to have been stolen.

For instance, in June, police in Nairobi arrested three suspects and recovered dozens of stolen electronic devices in a major crackdown on mobile phone theft syndicates.

The suspects were apprehended on June 13, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by officers from the Nairobi Area in the Central Business District (CBD).

In the raid, police recovered 75 mobile phones, seven computers, one microscope, and 20 Universal Flashing Interface (UFI) gadgets believed to be used in tampering with phone software.

The police cautioned members of the public against engaging in illegal mobile phone trade or purchasing devices from unauthorised dealers, warning that such actions fuel criminal networks.

NPS urged the public to report suspicious activities and refrain from buying gadgets from unverified sources.

In October 2024,  detectives from Kilimani arrested three suspects in connection with a high-profile burglary that had occurred in Westlands.

The suspects, who were found hiding in Kawangware, are believed to have stolen cash and valuables worth millions from a foreign national residing along Rahpta Road, Westlands.

During the raid, a variety of newly acquired items believed to be proceeds from the burglary were recovered.

The recovered items from the suspects included a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch Vitron TV, a Hanmac microwave, an HP laptop, an NNix cooker oven, and a 6kg Pro gas cylinder.
