Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku speaking on July 13, 2025, in Nakuru / HANDOUT

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to put in place all necessary regulations and processes in preparation for the pending by-elections across the country and the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking during a visit to Njoro in Nakuru County, CS Ruku emphasised the urgency of institutional preparedness, stating that the IEBC must move with speed to ensure that all legal and logistical frameworks are in place well ahead of time.

Ruku underscored the importance of maintaining the constitutional timelines, adding that Kenya’s democracy depends on timely, transparent, and credible elections.

He dismissed criticism from opposition leaders, accusing them of attempting to assume power through undemocratic means.

According to the CS, opposition leaders had their opportunity to serve but failed to deliver meaningful change to the Kenyan people.

“The opposition should prepare to face the electorate at the ballot, not through shortcuts. The IEBC is now fully constituted, and we expect elections to be held on schedule. President William Ruto is aware of the task ahead, to fulfill the promises made to Kenyans and earn their trust again in 2027,” Ruku said.

During his visit, CS Ruku also oversaw the distribution of emergency relief to families affected by a recent fire tragedy in Tipis, Njoro.

Accompanied by local leaders, the CS led the delivery of food supplies, blankets, and other essential items to the displaced families.

He assured residents of the government’s unwavering commitment to walk with them during the recovery process.

The CS noted that the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes is currently operationalising the mandate of the State Department for Special Programmes as outlined in Executive Order No. 1 of 2025.

He explained that the directive empowers the department to provide rapid response during emergencies, strengthen disaster preparedness, and support long-term recovery and resilience initiatives.

Earlier in the day, CS Ruku attended a worship service at Full Glory Church of Kenya in Mutukanio, where he called on Christians to continue praying for the country and supporting the Kenya Kwanza Government.

He urged the faithful to rally behind President Ruto’s administration, citing the many development and infrastructure projects currently underway across the country.

“The government is committed to changing lives. What we need now is unity, faith, and focus as we build a stronger, more prosperous Kenya,” he said.

Ruko advised the youth to take advantage of the many opportunities created by the government in areas such as enterprise development, digital jobs, and vocational training.

He cautioned young people against being misused by politicians with personal interests, saying the same leaders had their time in power but failed to deliver on their promises.

“The youth are the engine of this country’s future. Don’t allow yourselves to be misled by those who squandered their chance. Use your energy to build, not to be used for political chaos,” Ruku said.

Ruku’s visit to Nakuru highlighted the government’s proactive approach to emergency response, its commitment to democratic governance, and its appeal for unity and civic responsibility as it pushes forward with its national development agenda.
