Francis Kung’u bounced back to winning ways as the Tee-Off with Crown series made a return to the Kenya Railway Golf Club after a two-year hiatus over the weekend.

His victory was spurred by consistent chiding by his playing partners, who’ve been making fun of his ballooning handicap.

Playing off handicap 21, Kung’u registered a winning score of 42 stableford points to star over a field of 132 golfers who took to the course.

“I have been busy of late, and I’ve not played enough. However, from last week, I eased out, and now my golf has started coming up. I’ve been told by my four-ball that this isn’t my handicap. That I needed to do better, and here I’m, playing some good golf,” said Kung’u.

Lady golfer Doris Knight won the overall second title after returning a score of 41 stableford points. Nelson Mutai was the overall third winner with a score of 40 stableford points.

Perennial winner, James Karuga chalked a score of 39 stableford points to claim the Men’s winner title, playing off handicap 12.

Petit, Margaret Gacheri, inked 39 stableford points to lead the ladies section after being declared the Lady winner, as Joy Ndonga posted 29 stableford points to emerge as the Junior winner.

Winning the Gross prize was Fidhelis Kimanzi with 72 Gross points. Handicap 14, Habil Waswani bagged the Guest winner prize with a score of 36 stableford points, ahead of the Guest second winner, James Maina, who managed a score of 33 stableford points.

Waya Ndegwa was the Nearest to Pin Men winner with Joy Ndonga winning the Nearest to Pin Lady prize.

Shocking the field was Ronnie Maina by claiming the Longest Drive Men winner prize, while Joy Ndonga won the Longest Drive Ladies prize.

At the Nakuru Golf Club, the quartet of Brigadier (rtd) Michael Macharia, Enock Ogembo, John Kibet and Eleanor Wambui won the Team prize during the KCB Tour series with a combined team score of 114 points.

Followed by the team of Steve Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi and William Kariuki, who managed a combined score of 111 points.

In the individual category, handicap 28, Steve Imbwaga, outclassed the field of 236 golfers to win the Overall prize with a sterling score of 44 stableford points.
Francis Wanjohi, who has been in good form lately, was the Men winner with a score of 41 stableford points.

In the ladies division, the Lady winner prize was won by Eleanor Wambui, who carded 38 stableford points while playing off handicap 15.

Best among the KCB personnel was Ibrahim Lande who bagged the Staff prize with a score of 39 stableford points beating the Staff second winner, Anthony Mulisa, on countback also with a similar score of 39 stableford points.

Cassius Pennington returned a whooping score of 43 stableford points to be declared the Junior winner. Topping the Guest list was William Kariuki with a score of 41 stableford points.

The Longest Drive Men prize was won by Dr Terra Saidimu as Florence Wafula was the Longest Drive Lady winner.

Settling for the Nearest to Pin prize was Mwaura Muiru of the Nyahururu Sports Club
