Surveillance footage from Guadalajara, Mexico, has captured the harrowing moments leading up to a fatal shooting on a public street, following a violent altercation between a man and a woman.

The incident reportedly began with a heated argument near a white SUV.

In the video shared by CNN, the woman is seen striking the vehicle repeatedly with what appears to be a broom, shattering its windows and windscreen. After causing significant damage, she attempts to walk away.

Moments later, the man retrieves an assault rifle, takes aim, and fires two shots at close range. The woman collapses as the shooter flees the scene in the now-damaged SUV.

Disturbed by the sound of gunfire, neighbours rushed to the scene to help, but appeared confused and shocked. They attempted to assist the woman, but she succumbed to her injuries before emergency responders could arrive.

Authorities believe the attack may have stemmed from a personal dispute, though the exact motive remains under investigation.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the incident is being treated as femicide and that the suspect is being actively pursued.

The identity of the individual who released the footage remains unknown. However, prosecutors have acknowledged the video as part of their investigation.

The broad daylight shooting has sparked national outrage, with local officials condemning the violence and vowing to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Online, reactions have been divided.

While many strongly condemned the murder, others controversially debated the roles of both individuals.

One user, 3am, commented, “Nothing can justify murder, I repeat, nothing.”

Another, Larry Homes and Loans, added, “She didn’t deserve to die, but everyone must be accountable for their actions and emotions.”

Some also attempted to frame the act as self-defence, sparking heated debate.
