Former U.S. President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have taken a humorous approach to shutting down persistent divorce rumors that have followed them over the past year.

The power couple made a special appearance on the latest episode of “IMO,” the sibling podcast hosted by Michelle’s brother, Craig Robinson.

While the episode focused on parenting and raising boys, the trio didn’t shy away from addressing the swirling gossip about their marriage.

“Wait, you guys like each other?” Craig teased as Barack joined the conversation.

Michelle laughed, “Oh yeah, the rumor mill.” Barack chimed in with a grin, “She took me back. It was touch and go for a while.”

Craig kept the jokes going, saying, “It’s so nice to have you both in the same room together,” prompting Michelle to quip, “I know, ’cause when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.”

Rumors about the Obamas’ relationship began earlier this year when Barack was spotted attending major events alone, including the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and former President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

Michelle later clarified that her absence was simply a matter of personal choice, now that their daughters are grown and the pressures of the White House are behind them.

“This stage in life for me is the first time that I have been completely free,” Michelle shared during a July 9 episode of IMO.

In the same recent episode, Michelle firmly shut down the speculation, saying, “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quittin’ my man. And we’ve had some really hard times. We have had a lot.”

Married since 1992, the Obamas have been open about the highs and lows of their relationship but have always remained committed to one another, a bond that continues to shine.

On Valentine’s Day, Barack posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram: “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away.” Michelle responded with equal love, writing, “If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you, @BarackObama. You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be.”
