Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has accused opposition leaders of destabilising the country through incitement and political unrest, blaming them for recent destruction of property and loss of life.

Speaking on Saturday, July 19, during an economic empowerment event in Olooltepes, Kajiado West, Kindiki called on Kenyans to reject tribalism, violence, and chaos, saying such rhetoric will not move the country forward.

“We must stop violence, tribalism and chaos for the country to move forward,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to embrace peace and unity, and to shun leaders promoting hate and incitement, noting that the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on transforming lives through its development agenda.

Kindiki said the government is constructing more than 400 fresh produce markets across the country, 14 of them in Kajiado County, including in Namanga, Bisil, Rongai, Kitengela, Kiserian, and Kimana areas.

The DP also announced plans to build affordable student hostels at technical institutions, including Kajiado West TTI, which will receive 340 units valued at KSh165 million, as well as Maasai TTI and other institutions in the county.

He highlighted several flagship programs aimed at boosting the economy, including the Affordable Housing Program, overseas jobs initiative, Climate WorX, ICT hubs, and employment opportunities in sectors such as teaching, policing, and community health.

He assured residents that the government has delivered on its pledge to recarpet the Ngong–Suswa road to ease transport through Naivasha.

On healthcare, Kindiki urged more residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), revealing that 500,000 of Kajiado County’s 1.1 million residents have already signed up.

“As of today 24.7 million Kenyans have registered with SHA and we are targeting 50 million Kenyans,” he added.

Among leaders present were Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Soipan Tuya (Defence), National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and his Senate counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot, and President’s aide Farouk Kibet. Others included several MPs and MCAs.
