Kenyans have been urged to shun politicians inciting violence, looting, and the destruction of property.

Speaking Friday in Matayos Constituency, Busia, during a Women’s Economic Empowerment Program, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki cautioned youth against being misled by self-serving leaders.

He said that despite the country’s challenges, lawlessness is not a solution.

“Thank you, Busia, for keeping the peace and maintaining law and order. I commend you for that,” he said, noting that while many counties experienced chaos during recent nationwide protests, Busia remained calm.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who accompanied Kindiki for a series of economic empowerment events in Malava and Shinyalu constituencies in Kakamega County, warned leaders against making reckless statements about the 2027 elections.

Confident of President William Ruto’s re-election, Mudavadi urged the public to trust national institutions, including the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which he said would deliver credible elections.

“I want to tell politicians, even those in our camp saying Ruto’s votes will be stolen, stop that, let us stop casting doubt on the integrity of IEBC,” said Mudavadi, adding; “President Ruto is not going to steal the votes, and he has not assigned anyone to steal the votes. Ruto is going to win democratically through the will of the people.”

The Prime CS further said Ruto’s development record would secure him a second term.

Other leaders present during the event for one hundred and ten (110) women’s groups included National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Busia Governor Paul Otuoma, and MP Catherine Omanyo.

Also in attendance were MPs Nabii Nabwera (Lugari), Maurice Kaikai Bisau (Kiminini), Ruth Odinga (Kisumu), John Makali (Kanduyi), John Waluke (Sirisia), Joseph Oyula (Butula), Senator David Wakoli (Bungoma), Raphael Wanjala (Budalang’i), Christine Ombaka (Siaya), and Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands).
