Drawing inspiration from the popular “Confessions of a Pregnant Woman” trend, celebrated songstress Jovial has offered a candid and insightful glimpse into the often-overlooked realities of pregnancy.

Through a series of heartfelt and humorous social media posts, she opened up about the emotional and physical struggles she encountered during the early stages of her second pregnancy.

In one post, she admitted struggling with basic hygiene, “In my first trimester, I won’t lie; I went a whole week without showering.”

She added, “Those raised in Mombasa know we use water for everything, so I didn’t smell—but yooow! What a shame!”

Jovial further revealed how overwhelming the experience became, sharing that she often had to be encouraged or even physically guided to the bathroom.

“Someone had to drag me to the bathroom, and I would break down like a child,” she recalled.

Instead of showering, she resorted to spraying on body mist and changing clothes to get through the day.

Nausea and heightened sensitivity, especially with smells and tastes, presented another major hurdle, making a simple task as brushing her teeth unbearable.

“I had to find a way to brush my teeth because bad breath isn’t it,” she said. Her solution? Salt and charcoal powder. She even encouraged others facing the same issue to try this method.

Beyond the humour and vulnerability, Jovial delivered an important message: self-compassion. “What I’m trying to say is—take it easy on yourself. Pregnancy is a very difficult journey,” she urged.

Jovial also addressed her recent absence from the public eye. “I remember people asking where I’d disappeared to on social media. I was going through a lot, and I needed time.”

Jovial joins the growing list of celebrities who have openly talked about their pregnancy journey.

Others who have gone public include Wahu, Avril and Size 8.
