Bhang seized during the operation.

Police officers from the Nairobi Regional Operations Team
seized 200 kilograms of bhang and 100 litres of illicit brew in Nairobi on July
21, 2025.

The seizure followed a successful operation conducted along
Jogoo Road as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal
substances.

One suspect was arrested during the raid and is expected to
be arraigned in court.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the seized
substances will be used as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The NPS reaffirmed its commitment to fighting illegal drugs
and brews through consistent enforcement and proactive policing.

On the same day, police officers in Kisumu also destroyed a
large quantity of illicit brew during a separate operation in Kisumu Central.

Acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, officers
from Kisumu Central Police Station uncovered the stash in a local thicket.

The recovered items included ten 20-litre jerricans, two
200-litre drums of Kangara, and five litres of chang’aa.

Police said the location was likely being used as temporary
storage before transportation for distillation.

One suspect believed to be the owner of the illicit brews
was arrested at the scene and is due to face charges in court.

The Kisumu raid is part of a series of coordinated
operations targeting illegal alcohol production across Kenya.

This comes barely two days after NPS officers destroyed
3,916 liters of Kangara in Nandi.

On the morning of 20th July 2025, officers from Kapkerer
Police Station, in collaboration with their counterparts from Kobujoi Police
Station, conducted a targeted crackdown on illicit brews at Kipsigak Baibai village,
Kapkerer Location, within Nandi South Sub-County.

During the operation, the officers destroyed 3,916 litres of
kangara, a key ingredient in the brewing of illicit alcohol alongside all brewing
apparatus found at the site.

The National Police Service said  it remains resolute in its commitment to
ridding communities of illicit brew.
