Popular Mugithi artist and police officer Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, known to fans as Samidoh, has been granted anticipatory bail of Sh200,000 by the High Court.

This effectively blocks his possible arrest upon his return from the United States tour over alleged desertion of duty charges.

While granting the orders, High Court Judge Diana Kavedza said the court was persuaded that the singer’s freedom was under imminent threat, noting that a warrant of arrest had been issued while he was overseas, despite official approval for his travel by his employer.

“The applicant has demonstrated a credible apprehension of arrest arising from the same authority that sanctioned his travel. This raises legitimate concerns that cannot be ignored by the court,” observed the judge.

The ruling comes ahead of Samidoh’s scheduled return to Kenya this weekend

In his court papers, Samidoh, who has served in the National Police Service for over a decade, says that in mid-June, he left Kenya to attend his child’s graduation and visit his family in the US.

Before his departure, he claims he obtained full approval from his employer, the National Police Service.

However, while abroad, Samidoh learned that a warrant of arrest had been issued against him for alleged desertion of duty.

Upon briefly returning to Kenya on June 17, 2025, Samidoh formally applied for early retirement under the “10–22 Rule,” pursuant to Section 76(3) of the National Police Service Act, and was duly cleared before flying back.

“I returned to Kenya on June 17 and tendered my retirement request, ” Samidoh told the court.

In a viral TikTok video, Samidoh, who is in the United States with his wife, Edday Nderitu, appeared to be rekindling their love during a viral TikTok live, where the musician kissed her on camera.

The couple had experienced a bitter fallout a few years before Edday’s relocation to the United States of America.

Their passionate kiss sparked elation from their online fans, and the moment quickly gained traction online, especially after Karen Nyamu jumped in with a bold, cheeky response that reignited speculation about the trio’s complicated history.

In a now-viral TikTok live video, popular Mugithi singer Samidoh was seen affectionately kissing his wife, Edday, as the couple interacted with fans online.

The tender moment occurred while Edday and Samidoh’s cousin, Bernice Saroni, was engaging TikTokers during a lighthearted live stream. As they laughed and chatted, Samidoh appeared in the frame and, without hesitation, kissed Edday, leaving fans cheering in the comments.
