Kenyan rapper Prezzo has stirred controversy online after throwing cold water on victims of fake forex traders, suggesting they should have seen the scams coming.
The veteran entertainer, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and blunt opinions, took to Instagram to share his thoughts while flaunting a wad of cash and a pricey bottle of Don Julio tequila.
“First and foremost, don’t splash your stuff all over the place,” Prezzo warned in the video, referencing the flashy behavior common among self-proclaimed forex millionaires on social media.
“These forex traders are overdoing it,” he said. “But if they put you in the box, just accept that they didn’t put a gun to your head… Remember, this is Kanairo, my guy!”
Prezzo then took a cheeky jab at the so-called traders, questioning the legitimacy of their wealth.
“With all that ‘money’ they claim to have; why don’t they give us real lessons to join Kilazima? Anyway, link on my bio. Join Forex,” he added, followed by a stream of laughing emojis.
The clip, which shows Prezzo celebrating with friends after what he called a successful business deal, also offered a glimpse into his circle’s celebrations. “We’re popping this bottle for two reasons,” Prezzo explained. “One, we made a killing. Two, all our business meetings were successful. We’re not like those people who pop bottles for no reason. I haven’t seen my brother here for long.”
While his comments were laced with humour, many online have pointed out the deeper message about gullibility and the allure of flashy online personas.
In recent years, Kenya has witnessed a surge in online forex trading, especially among youth chasing the “get-rich-quick” dream. However, the boom has also opened the floodgates for con artists posing as expert forex traders. These individuals, often with a heavy social media presence, showcase luxury cars, expensive gadgets, designer fashion, and exotic vacations — all supposedly funded by forex profits.
