Nominated MCA from Murang’a County Sharleen Wambui and aspiring Roysambu MP Kevin Shaban engaged in an altercation with Embu political aspirant Samuel Ireri during the anticipated homecoming for Mugithi sensation Samidoh.
The event happened at a popular city venue and was packed to capacity with Samidoh’s fans eagerly waiting on the star’s performance during the weekend. The invigorated ‘Muthoniwa’ hit maker took to the stage and delivered a thrilling performance, belting out fan-favorite hits that resonated with the cheering audience. He took a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude to his loyal fans and supporters who had stood by him throughout his journey.
Nonetheless, the jubilant celebration quickly changed momentum after an unexpected dramatic turn happened. In the middle of the performance, Samidoh asked a group of his close friends who had traveled with him from the US to join him on stage. They generously showered the ‘Mumbi’ singer with cash donations, further exciting the already electrified crowd. This was as a sign of support and appreciation to the renowned artiste.
The joyous scene was, unfortunately, short-lived. Moments after these guests descended from the stage, an unexpected altercation erupted. Among those who had been on stage was Samuel Ireri, an emerging political figure who is aspiring for the Embu Senate seat in the upcoming 2027 elections.
As he got off the stage, he encountered Sharleen Wambui, a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) representing Murang’a county. Sharleen is known for her close association with First daughter Charlene Ruto.
The reason for the altercation remains unknown but in a viral video, Kevin Shaban and Sharleen Wambui could be seen in a heated verbal exchange against Samuel Ireri.
It quickly spiraled into a full-blown physical confrontation prompting attendees to intervene. The two appeared irritated and the chaotic scene left intoxicated partygoers surprised.
The mood abruptly changed as compared to the festive energy prior to the fight. The political intensity did not end there. The evening was marked by widespread anti-government chants emanating from sections of the crowd.
The viral footage of the altercation by the Kenyan leaders brewed a lot of reactions from Kenyans on social media. Some expressed a mix of shock, amusement while others disapproved the behavior of the leaders at the homecoming ceremony.
A TikTok user wrote, “Just imagine there are our leaders…Embarrassment.” Another claimed to be at the club at the time, “It did not turn to a battle field. They had their misunderstanding and argued for two minutes. It did not interfere with anything. I was there,”
