Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has set the Kenyan music scene buzzing after hinting at a potential collaboration with fast-rising arbantone rapper Toxic Lyrikali.
The “Backaz” hitmaker recently dropped a teaser remix of his popular track “Back Bencher” featuring none other than Kenya’s street sensation.
In a viral Instagram video, Konshens shared a flurry of screenshots from fans urging him to team up with the buzzing Nairobi rapper.
Responding to the demand, he praised Toxic Lyrikali’s talent and debuted a remix performance that is already gaining traction online.
Kenyans flooded the comment section, thanking Konshens for his consistent support of local talent.
Some playfully dubbed him “Konshens Otieno,” a name that’s become popular among fans for his deep-rooted love for Kenya’s music scene.
“Mr. Konshens Otieno does it again,” one fan wrote.
“Akitoa itakua anthem of the year,” added another.
Toxic Lyrikali himself responded to the clip, expressing his excitement about the collaboration and hinting at a possible boooth sharing with Konshens in Jamaica.
“Moja kwa moja mpaka Jamdown mwishoo bila wasiwasi,” the rapper commented.
Kenyan music group Matata also weighed in, celebrating the collaboration with a nod to Toxic’s brand, “Mboka Doba”—a phrase now synonymous with Kenya’s new-age street music.
Arbantone star Gody Tennor, best known for “Mukuchu,” showed his support with a string of fire emojis.
Toxic Lyrikali has emerged as one of Kenya’s most promising artists since launching his career in 2022. Born and raised in Kayole, Nairobi, he gained national recognition with hits like: “Chinje” (7.5 million YouTube views) “Sick” (4.5 million views) “Thugnificent” (4.2 million views) “Long Story” (1 million views in just five months)
His street-rooted lyrics, gritty visuals, and catchy arbantone beats have made him a standout act in East Africa.
Toxic attributes his early success to producers Master VK and Beat Kidd, who helped craft his breakout tracks.
While an official release date for the remix remains under wraps, Konshens’ latest move hints at a possible cross-continental collaboration that could bring dancehall and arbantone together on a global stage.
