Actor and content creator Daddie Marto has spoken out for the first time about his separation from long-term partner Koku Lwanga. And many of his claims were quickly rubbished by Koku in a response.
Daddie Marto talked about what he describes as a deeply painful personal chapter marked by public scrutiny, financial strain and emotional upheaval.
In a lengthy statement titled ‘For the Record’, the father of two expressed heartbreak over the breakdown of his family, saying, “I have lost my family as I knew it.”
Marto, who parted ways with Koku in December 2024, said the couple attempted reconciliation for several months before finalising the split in March 2025. He moved out in April, and by May, the pair had prepared a joint public statement, which they mutually agreed to delay, he said.
Addressing claims that he abandoned his financial duties, Marto claimed his continued support even after moving out, saying he paid for school fees, medical expenses, utilities, and more than half the rent.
He described the toll of trying to balance fatherhood, finances, and emotional wellbeing.
One of the most explosive parts of his statement concerned an incident he says contributed to the public fallout.
Marto recalled returning home to a confrontation while a video call was underway, which quickly escalated.
In June, Daddie Marto’s wife, Koku Lwanga, announced the end of their marriage, citing infidelity and physical abuse.
Koku revealed that she had caught the content creator with another woman in what he referred to as his “office” within their Nairobi home.
“I did not deserve that. You bringing another woman in my presence to the ‘so-called office’. He took a 2-bedroom in a different block but the same compound as we separated,” she wrote.
An emotional Koku claimed that when she confronted him, things turned violent.
“I did not deserve you throwing blows and kicks to my head, neck and back while I lay in a fetal position simply because I came to confront you and your mistress. I did not deserve you standing there and saying you don’t owe me anything. You owe me dignity, respect and consideration during this delicate period we are in,” she added.
In a series of emotional Instagram stories in June this year, Koku revealed she found another woman in what Marto called his “office” within their home compound. When she confronted him, she claimed he responded with violence, hitting and kicking her while she was defenseless.
Koku expressed heartbreak over the betrayal, posting past photos and videos, including footage of the confrontation night and visible bruises she attributes to the assault.
The same played out today. In a series of Instagram stories, Koku dismissed Daddie Marto’s recent public statement, accusing him of twisting the truth and leaving out important details.
According to her, they had mutually agreed in late 2024 to take a three-month break and revisit their relationship afterward.
However, she says Marto abruptly moved out without informing her and took important documents belonging to their children, which he has yet to return.
She adds that he repeatedly returned to their shared home to collect household items, including their main TV.
Addressing financial claims, Koku denies ever being a burden, stating that her family actually provided substantial support. She says her mother gave Marto more than KSh2.9 million, and her father also contributed over the years. Koku added that she used most of her internship income to help pay off his loan and even ran a chapati business to support their children during tough times.
She further accused Marto of violating their agreement to keep their children’s environment free from new partners.
Regarding the night of their confrontation, Koku insists she never entered his house or acted violently.
