Actor and content creator Daddie Marto has spoken out for the first time about his separation from long-term partner Koku Lwanga.
Daddie Marto shed light on what he describes as a deeply painful personal chapter marked by public scrutiny, financial strain and emotional upheaval.
In a lengthy statement titled “For the Record”, the father of two expressed heartbreak over the breakdown of his family, saying, “I have lost my family as I knew it.”
Marto, who parted ways with Koku in December 2024, revealed that the couple attempted reconciliation for several months before finalising the split in March 2025. He moved out in April, and by May, the pair had prepared a joint public statement, which they mutually agreed to delay.
The actor said his silence over the past few months was driven by the desire to avoid fuelling the fire, but added that the growing online accusations had left him no option but to set the record straight.
“The accusations have escalated into a daily barrage… Some subtle and some direct, with no end in sight,” he wrote. “It stops looking like a cry for justice and starts looking like malice.”
Addressing claims that he abandoned his financial duties, Marto detailed his continued support even after moving out, saying he paid for school fees, medical expenses, utilities, and more than half the rent.
He also opened up about taking out a loan to help complete a house for Koku’s mother in Kerugoya.
“When the available funds ran out, I took a loan to finish it as it was at a critical stage, with the hopes to recover when back to work,” he stated.
According to Marto, this occurred while he was still recovering from a career setback after stepping back from work in July 2024 to focus on the house project.
He described the toll of trying to balance fatherhood, finances, and emotional wellbeing.
One of the most explosive parts of his statement concerned an incident he says contributed to the public fallout.
Marto recalled returning home to a confrontation while a video call was underway, which quickly escalated.
He claimed he had to record the exchange, a practice he says was recommended during therapy to protect himself during volatile emotional moments.
He alleged he was repeatedly touched during the incident and sustained an eye injury before leaving the premises for his safety.
Marto strongly denied being violent, abusive, or manipulative, saying there had never been any history or threat of physical violence in their relationship.
