Former Sauti Sol member Willis Chimano has publicly urged his longtime friend and former bandmate Bien-Aimé Baraza to reach out, revealing he has been unable to get in touch with him since the group went their separate ways.
Speaking in an interview with Okay Africa, Chimano was asked which artiste he would most likely collaborate with, and without hesitation, he mentioned the Lifestyle hitmaker. However, he admitted his attempts to contact Bien had gone unanswered.
“Bien, call me. I know we were bandmates before; we have been together for years. Just call me; I’ve been trying to hit you up, Bien. Call me; I thought we were brothers. We have been together since high school; come on, call me Bien,” Chimano said.
Sauti Sol, one of Kenya’s most celebrated music groups, entertained fans for 17 years before parting ways after a historic final concert in December 2023.
Formed at Nairobi’s Upper Hill School, the quartet, Bien, Savara Mudigi, Chimano, and guitarist Polycarp “Fancy Fingers” Otieno, became known for timeless hits like Kuliko Jana, Suzanna, Melanin, and Rhumba Japani.
While Bien and Savara have continued to release solo hits, Chimano has largely kept a low profile. His public appeal has sparked speculation among fans about the state of their relationship.
Social media reactions were quick to follow, with one Instagram user writing, “Brothers turning on each other is mad,” while another quipped, “That’s how small sisters behave.”
Adding to the intrigue, Chimano himself joined in on the online chatter, posting an animated sticker of Homer Simpson pleading, “Please please please.”
