Diamond Platnumz has sparked excitement among fans after posting a video of himself in a jubilant studio session alongside American Singers Trey Songz and Fabulous. The short clip, which quickly went viral, shows the him and Fabulous vibing, laughing, and nodding along to a catchy track blaring through the speakers.
Diamond did not stop there.
Shortly after the initial tease, he doubled down on the hype by posting another video with Trey Songz and Fabolous, confirming they are all part of the same project.
The footage shows the trio deep in creative conversation, hinting at a transatlantic collaboration that is about to shake up the airwaves.
This latest move adds fuel to the already burning curiosity around Diamond’s next album. Appearing on Way Up With Angela Yee, the Jeje hitmaker gave fans a glimpse into what is coming.
“I’m working on that now,” Diamond told Yee when asked about the next album. “I’ve got a lot of songs that I can’t wait [to drop]. I’m super excited.”
Pressed on the kind of vibe fans should expect, he revealed that the project would offer a rich blend of sounds from across the globe but with a strong African identity at its core.
“Different sounds. Of course, African sounds are going to be there, bongo fleva in there,” he said. “There’s this sound called singeli. It’s a new sound from Africa, it’s crazy. If you got time, just type singeli and watch the videos.”
For longtime fans of Diamond Platnumz, this next album sounds like a true evolution of his Pan-African and now global approach. From his early days dominating Tanzanian charts with bongo fleva, to collaborations with global stars like Ne-Yo, Omarion, Rick Ross and Alicia Keys, Diamond has been on a mission to make African music travel.
Singeli, which hails from TZ, is known for its rapid-fire beats and frenetic rhythm a stark contrast to the smooth melodies of R&B or the mid-tempo vibe of bongo fleva. Introducing such a genre to an international audience could be a game-changer.
Though he did not give a specific release date, Diamond’s excitement and the high-profile collaborations hint that the project is already in its final stages. If the Trey Songz and Fabolous appearances are any indication, the album is likely to feature a mix of African and American stars, all blending their styles in a way that few artists manage to pull off.
While in Los Angeles, Diamond also took time to immerse himself in the city’s vibrant entertainment and sports culture. He was a guest of the LA Football Club (LAFC), who hosted him during one of their high-profile matches.
Videos from the visit show Diamond rubbing shoulders with celebrities in the VIP suite and soaking up the atmosphere.
He later captioned a post from the visit: “LA is Black & Gold. Thank you LAFC for hosting me.”
The phrase “Black & Gold” nods to LAFC’s official colors.
