Ugandan singer Douglas Mayanja, better known as Weasel of the celebrated duo Radio and Weasel, is recovering in hospital after an alleged hit-and-run involving his wife, Rwandan socialite Sandra Teta.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred outside Shan’s Bar in Munyonyo, following a heated argument between the couple, as described by witnesses.

Kampala Metropolitan Police allege that Teta ran over the 38-year-old star with her vehicle, registration number UBH 148Y, before speeding away from the scene.

The vehicle has since been impounded at Kabalagala Police Station, where Teta is also being held as investigations continue.

Police say Weasel was first rushed to Mukwaya Hospital for urgent medical attention before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital, where he remains under treatment.

While officials have confirmed he is receiving care, details about his injuries remain closely guarded.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that detectives are piecing together the chain of events and that potential charges could follow, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

News of this latest incident has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s entertainment industry and beyond. Fans, fellow musicians, and public figures have taken to social media to express concern and call for justice, while others have urged the public to allow due process.

In a heartfelt social media post titled A Heartfelt Thank You from Yours Truly, Weasel assured fans he is on the road to recovery.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and well-wishes following my recent accident… I am on the road to surgery and full recovery… We are looking forward to bouncing back stronger and better,” he wrote.

Weasel, the younger brother of music icon Jose Chameleone, rose to fame alongside the late Mowzey Radio in the duo Radio & Weasel, producing hit after hit and shaping East Africa’s music landscape.

Their journey was tragically interrupted in 2018 when Mowzey Radio died from injuries sustained in a bar fight.
