Iyanii promises Harambee Stars free concert after historic CHAN wins

Kenyan singer Iyanii has pledged to host a free concert in honour of the Harambee Stars following their stunning 1-0 quarter-final victory against Zambia at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The fast-rising star, best known for his hit Kifo cha Mende, said the concert will be his way of celebrating the national team’s unbeaten run, which has seen them bag consecutive wins against Zambia, Morocco, and DR Congo.

In a video posted on Instagram, Iyanii praised the team for their impressive performance and the support they have shown him personally.

“Harambee Stars players have shown me so much love and support. In return, at any stage Harambee Stars reach, I promise to give them a free performance. We are so proud of you so far, kila kitu mumekua mkifanya imekua excellent, and we wish you nothing but the best,” he said.

Iyanii’s pledge comes amid a flood of rewards promised to the team after their remarkable group stage performance at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

President William Ruto had earlier committed to awarding each player KSh2.5 million, while former Prime Minister Raila Odinga topped up with an additional KSh500,000 — bringing the total to KSh3 million per player.

“I decided to come and say hongera. We were all worried that if you drew or lost, you would have to play out of Nairobi, and we want you to keep playing in front of our fans here. I will add to what the President has promised — KSh500,000 each,” Raila told the jubilant team.

The list of promises doesn’t stop there.

Renowned fashion designer Bolo Bespoke also pledged to gift Harambee Stars players two designer suits each if they won their final Group A match, further adding to the outpouring of love from Kenyan celebrities, musicians, and politicians.
