She walks with the grace of a queen, speaks with calm conviction, and carries a purpose larger than the runway. At only 21, Frida Jebet Kosgei has become more than a beauty queen, she is a movement.
From the valleys of Baringo County to national pageantry stages, her journey is one of resilience and purpose.
“I’m soft-spoken, but powerfully driven. My purpose walks louder than my voice,” she says. It is a mantra that has guided her from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most promising young changemakers in modeling and tourism.
Born and raised in Baringo, Frida is the firstborn in a family of six and currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Pwani University.
She recalls her modeling journey starting in 2019 while in high school. Criticism and misconceptions about modeling only fueled her determination to rise above stereotypes.
After high school, she pursued her dream fully, competing in pageants where she advocated for causes close to her heart.
At Miss Pwani University, she championed mental health and later addressed gender-based violence at Miss Diva Kilifi. In 2023, she was named Most Performing Queen of the Year by the Independent Kenya Awards.
This year marked her biggest milestone yet, being crowned Miss Face of Kenya. She also won Best Catwalk, Best Cultural Wear, and the title of Miss Orient Tourism Global Kenya.
Though she didn’t advance to the international stage, her focus remains clear: “Beauty beyond boundaries means using my platform not just for elegance, but for purpose, compassion, and leadership.”
Frida has also explored commercial modeling, serving as Vice President of Pageant Assistant Academy, where she gained behind-the-scenes industry experience. She later collaborated in a national campaign with Afrisense, which expanded her portfolio and confidence.
Her vision, however, goes beyond modeling. Frida co-leads Green Nomads, a youth initiative for environmental conservation. Through The Green Mission Initiative, they combined menstrual hygiene education, reproductive health awareness, and tree-planting in schools and communities. “We reached out to schools, distributed sanitary pads, held mentorship sessions, and planted trees—creating a model that empowers both people and the planet,” she says.
Passionate about tourism, Frida dreams of one day owning a tour company that celebrates culture, uplifts communities, and empowers women and youth.
Looking back, she says the criticism she once endured has turned into support. “The same people who doubted me are now some of my biggest cheerleaders, and for that I’m truly grateful.”
With a steady gaze, she adds, “I may not be exactly where I want to be yet, but I thank God I’m standing in places I once prayed for.”
Frida Jebet Kosgei isn’t just walking runways—she’s paving them. For girls from Baringo, for youth across Kenya, and for anyone daring to dream beyond limitations, her story is just beginning.
