Actress and radio presenter Jacqueline Nyaminde, popularly known as Wilbroda, has sparked debate after declaring that she does not believe in the existence of heaven or hell.
Speaking during an interview, Nyaminde admitted that her views may be controversial, but she maintained that they reflect her personal truth.
“Najua hii kitu nitasema itakuwa controversial, but I am going to say it since I also said it on air. I don’t believe that there’s a heaven and hell. Huu ni ukweli wangu,” she said.
Nyaminde argued that people create their own heaven or hell on earth depending on how they live, rejecting the biblical notion of a trumpet announcing the end times.
“Your heaven and your hell are right here on earth. Hakuna tarumbeta itapigwa,” she stated.
She went on to dismiss the belief in phenomenal last-day occurrences described in scripture, including the resurrection of the dead.
“Hakuna tarumbeta italia, hakuna hao wa kusaga meno, hakuna kuungua jehanamu. Since your heaven and hell are right here, you are the creator of your hell and heaven,” she added.
Despite distancing herself from traditional Christian teachings on the afterlife, Nyaminde stressed that she still believes in God and in living a good life.
The actress also joked that no one has ever returned to confirm the existence of heaven or hell and that the biblical promise of a land flowing with milk and honey was not appealing to her.
“Hakuna mtu ameenda kule akarudi akatuambia vile kuko. Alafu mimi hiyo diet ya maziwa na asali doesn’t work for me,” she quipped.
Nyaminde concluded by reaffirming her faith in God but rejecting the concept of an afterlife.
“I have my superior being that I pray to and lay my hope on. But when you die, you die. There is no afterlife,” she said.
Online netizens had many questions for the Papa Shirandula star.
“I used to think like her until I met Jesus in 2022. He is alive and he loves us. Just ask him and he will reveal himself to you,” Liinvi Chemutai wrote.
Mwitadventure warned, “Ongea hivyo alafu uende upatane na tarumbeta ndo utashangaa “
Janny Okinyo advised, “Fanya tu comedy dada. Achana na spiritual things zile huelewi. There are boundaries in life..Chasing clout with content on matters spiritual is equal to the parable of the rich fool in the bible who thought he would live, eat, and make merry, but God was listening and laughing at him, knowing he would die the same night..Omba sana Mungu asikuchekelee..”
