Kenya’s rising Afro-soul star Adoyo Afrique made a dazzling entrance into the music scene with the launch of her debut EP, Thorns and Honey, during a star-studded evening filled with glamour, emotion, and celebration.
The multi-talented Adoyo—an actress, fashion model, and now officially a recording artiste—hosted fans, fellow creatives, and close friends for a night to remember, marking the beginning of her musical journey in style.
Known for her vibrant performances at events like FESTAC AFRICA, Adoyo has spent the past three years quietly honing her craft behind the scenes—learning instruments, performing covers, and patiently building up to this defining moment.
“It’s been a journey of growth, discipline, and faith in the dream,” she shared during the launch. “Today, I finally launch my career as a musician with my very first EP, Thorns and Honey.”
The project, according to Adoyo, is deeply personal—a sonic diary that blends her emotions, cultural heritage, and creative evolution. From soulful love ballads to rich traditional Luo sounds featuring the nyatiti, the EP is both intimate and rooted in identity.
“This project means everything to me because it is my most honest expression yet,” she said. “In the love songs, you’ll hear my heart in its most tender form, and in the traditional Luo pieces, you’ll hear the voice of my roots and where I come from. It’s a bridge connecting me to my people—and to the world.”
The EP captures the sweetness of love and the sting of struggle through four songs… two heartfelt love ballads and two traditional tracks featuring the nyatiti.
The lead single Imora, featuring renowned benga star Johnny Junior, has already begun to spark interest online. Described by Adoyo as a blend where “love, melody, and emotion intertwine,” Imora captures the essence of her style—raw, rhythmic, and refreshingly real.
