Kenyan model Zamzam Godana has publicly criticized the Isiolo County government for failing to support her throughout her modeling journey, despite her recent triumph as Miss Tourism Kenya 2025.
In a viral video shared on X, Zamzam expressed her disappointment, revealing that no one from her home county stood by her as she worked her way up in the industry.
She noted that while people are now celebrating her victory, the same individuals failed to attend her events or believe in her earlier.
“Isiolo County, you never supported me, you never trusted me. You didn’t come to the event to support me. But look at me, I won without you people,” she said emotionally.
Godana went further to mention a person who, she claimed, ignored her calls and discouraged her when she sought help. She celebrated her achievement, saying she was now preparing to represent Kenya at the Miss Tourism Africa competition in Nigeria.
“(Mentions a distorted name) you never trusted in me. Ulinikatia simu, and you refused to support me. Look at me now, I’m going to Nigeria,” Zamzam declared.
Dressed in a royal blue gown, a sparkling tiara adorned with blue stones, and a sash inscribed with Miss Tourism Kenya 2025, the model underscored that what should have been a historic moment for Isiolo County turned bittersweet due to the lack of local support.
Nevertheless, with poise and determination, Zamzam is set to showcase Kenya’s vibrant culture and tourism on the continental stage.
Her remarks drew mixed reactions online.
Some Kenyans empathized with her struggles, noting that many people only celebrate success but shy away during difficult times. Others, however, felt she should focus on her win instead of dwelling on negativity.
Patrick Githaiga commented on X, “One key to living a happy life is understanding that no one owes you anything. When you embrace life without entitlement or unrealistic expectations, you free yourself from constant disappointments and create space for genuine gratitude and peace.”
Another user, Guantai, added, “Enjoy your win and stop seeing haters in everything you do.”
On the other hand, one supporter wrote, “To be honest, some people only show up when you are successful, ukiteseka hawatakangi kukuona.”
And in a lighter mood, Alfa House joked, “She’s having her ‘Mwalimu wa maths hapa ni wapi’ moment.”
