A video from the US Open has sparked outrage online after a Polish millionaire and CEO, Piotr Szczerek, was seen grabbing a signed hat from a young boy.
The hat, a gift from Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak after his win over Karen Khachanov, was meant for a young fan identified as Brock.
As the boy reached for it, Szczerek snatched it and placed it in his wife’s bag, leaving the child visibly disappointed.
Majchrzak later told the New York Post that the incident appeared to be “some kind of confusion,” noting that Szczerek sponsors his tennis federation.
“I was pointing, giving the hat, but I had a lot going on after my match. I’m sure the guy was also acting in the moment of emotions,” he said.
The tennis star later met Brock and his family, gifting him another signed hat and additional memorabilia.
Sharing the moment on Instagram, Majchrzak captioned a photo with the smiling boy: “Hello World! Together with Brock. We wish you a great day.”
According to Majchrzak, Szczerek has since attempted to make amends by reaching out to the boy’s mother on social media.
Still, the video drew heavy backlash.
One Instagram user praised Majchrzak: “You won people’s hearts by what you did to the kid. That’s better than any cup.”
Another commented: “A perfect example of how money can’t buy class.”
Others compared Szczerek to CEOs who have recently gone viral for embarrassing incidents, with one user writing: “CEO’s on camera is my favorite 2025 thing.”
