The fairways were abuzz with competition during the 12th edition of the Tee-Off with Crown tournament as 102 golfers vied for top honours at the challenging, nine-hole, Nanyuki Sports Club layout over the weekend.

Although the highly coveted Mahindra Scorpio pick-up prize, valued at Shs 5.4 million, remained unclaimed since no one achieved a hole-in-one, which was set up on the par-three 18th hole. The day showcased performances and celebrated strong corporate partnerships.

The ultimate victory went to Maulid Ramadhan, who was crowned the overall winner with a commanding score of 39 stableford points, playing off handicap 11.

“All thanks to God for the ability He has given me to drive and putt like a champion,” said Ramadhan. “I would also like to recognise the sponsors for a well-organised tournament. I appreciate our Captain, Mike, Lady Suzy and Lady Lucy for the great challenge that enabled me to win. Last but not least, I want to appreciate myself for performing well.”

In the Men’s category, the top spot was claimed by Mark Kirimi, who also returned a score of 39 stableford points, playing off handicap 5. He was followed closely by his son Ian Kirimi and senior Captain, John Mathai, who secured second and fourth places, respectively, with identical scores of 39 stableford points apiece.

Gross winner Cyprian Bundi stood out with a remarkable 73 gross points while playing off handicap -2.

In the ladies’ category, Purity Githui claimed the title of Lady winner with a solid performance, finishing with 31 stableford points while playing off a handicap of 17. Jane Kimani followed closely behind as the Lady winner second, scoring 29 stableford points from a handicap of 26.

Category B also produced exciting results. Men’s winner Kevin Powell secured his title with a score of 38 stableford points off handicap 29. In the Ladies section, Wachuka Jenny shone brightly, racking up 39 stableford points while playing off handicap 33.
The Guest prize was awarded to Danson Kibe from Nyahururu Country Club, whose outstanding score of 44 stableford points left quite an impression.

Special awards highlighted the competition, with Joseph Mwangi taking home the First Nine prize, after finishing with 21 stableford points off a handicap of 27, Titus Wambeti claimed the Second Nine prize with a score of 20 stableford points off a handicap of 20. Junior talent Minerva Roka also had her moment in the spotlight, winning the Junior prize with a compact score of 40 stableford points while playing off a handicap of 37.

Additionally, it was exciting to see three golfers, Vijay Limbu, Jeff Muthoki, and Bernard Mwai, each record a two on the par-three 18th hole, although the ultimate hole-in-one prize remained elusive.

Collins Too won both the Longest Drive and Nearest to Pin Men awards. Milkah Wanjiru earned the Longest Drive Lady’s prize.
