Kenyan comedian Nasra Yusuff has once again shown the power of community and togetherness after her fans rallied behind her to raise over Sh200,000 overnight all sparked by a heartfelt act of kindness gone wrong.
In a moving Instagram post, Nasra narrated how a fan reached out to her in need of help.
Wanting to support quietly, she sent him Sh20,000. However, the money was accidentally sent to the wrong number because the fan, overwhelmed by her generosity, made a typing error.
“Knowing how much the 20k was gonna help him, and how disappointed we both felt that it went to a wrong number, I decided to post it on my Instagram stories, telling my people what happened and how I wanted them to help me raise the same 20k for him,” she explained.
What happened next left Nasra in tears.
Her fans—fondly referred to as “Team Nasra” not only raised the 20k but went above and beyond, contributing a staggering Sh200,000 overnight.
To her surprise, the original 20k also got reversed, which she called a sign from God that even greater things were meant for the fan, Nic.
The overwhelming show of support turned Nasra’s home into a “mini baby shop,” with countless packages and gifts arriving from individuals and businesses eager to celebrate the arrival of the baby, little Nasra.
Within days, the community spirit culminated in a lavish baby shower in Thika, fully planned and executed with contributions from well-wishers.
From décor, cake, food, drinks, DJ, MC, photography, makeup, clothes, and flowers, everything was offered for free.
“Everything you see on the video, the decor, the cake, the food, the drinks, the DJ, the Photo/Videographer, the MC, the artist, the makeup, the clothes, the hair, the flowers, the ushers—EVERYTHING was offered to us for free,” Nasra shared in disbelief.
Adding to the generosity, a bank pledged to deposit Sh20,000 into her baby’s account, while Nasra herself topped it up with an additional 30k to make it Sh50,000 in savings for baby Nasra’s future.
