Popular vernacular radio presenter Muthoni Wa Kirumba has been named Female Radio Presenter of the Year at the prestigious Star Brands East Africa Awards.

During her acceptance speech, a visibly moved Muthoni attributed the honour to God, quoting scripture: “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever! I am Starbrands East Africa.”

She also thanked her listeners, colleagues, and supporters for their continued encouragement.

“I am grateful to our listeners who have made this possible,” she said.

Also known as Baby Top, Muthoni is a mid-morning show host celebrated for her vibrant personality and infectious laughter.

With a career spanning 15 years in radio, she has become a household name, commanding a loyal fan base across central Kenya and beyond.

Muthoni has distinguished herself by blending humour, culture, and real-life conversations.

She is particularly prominent in the vernacular radio scene, often interacting with well-known Kikuyu personalities such as Mugithi artiste Samidoh,  Pastor Ben Kiengei, Damaris Muriithi (Dama Mobile Spares), Karangu Muraya, among others.

In 2023, she left listeners stunned during a live mid-show call to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, extending warm birthday wishes.

This award now solidifies her status as one of Kenya’s most beloved vernacular radio voices.
