The 2026 edition of Afro Nation Portugal is shaping up to be one of the biggest celebrations of African music yet, with Kenya’s Bien-Aimé Baraza right in the mix.
Set for July 3 to 5, 2026, at Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Algarve, the mega festival will bring together some of the world’s top acts in Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, Hip Hop and Dancehall.
Headliners Wizkid, Tyla and Asake lead the lineup, joined by stars including Olamide, Gunna, Mariah the Scientist, Awilo Longomba, Darkoo, Niska and Young Jonn.
Bien’s inclusion in the main lineup marks another breakthrough moment for East Africa, placing him alongside artists who dominate global streaming charts and stadium stages.
It won’t be his first Afro Nation appearance — he previously performed at the 2023 edition as part of Sauti Sol, sharing the stage with headliners like Burna Boy and 50 Cent.
The group had also been slated for the 2021 edition, which was cancelled and later rescheduled to 2022.
Now, with Afrobeats and Amapiano taking centre stage, seeing Bien, Wizkid, and Tyla together promises an unforgettable experience for music lovers.
But Bien’s current solo success follows his successful “Alusa” world tour, which saw sold-out shows and earned him growing international attention.
Since debuting in 2019, Afro Nation has evolved from a niche concept into a global brand, with its Portugal edition now attracting nearly 40,000 people daily from over 140 countries.
The festival has been praised for uniting the African diaspora through music, food, and fashion while boosting the Algarve’s economy through tourism.
For 2026, organisers are expanding the experience further with the launch of an Afrotronic Stage dedicated to electronic, house, and afrotech music, a nod to how African rhythms are shaping modern club sounds.
The festival will also retain its popular Piano People Stage, featuring Amapiano heavyweights such as Madumane, Amaroto, and Focalistic.
Tickets go on presale from October 9, with general sales opening the next day.
