Gengetone artiste Shalkido is fighting for his life after being involved in a serious road accident along Thika Road in the early hours of October 5.
The incident was first reported by media personality Oga Obinna, who revealed that he was among the last people to see the Sailors Gang member before the crash.
According to Obinna, Shalkido, real name Kelvin Mburu Kinyanjui, had made a brief appearance at an entertainment joint in Thika before heading back to Nairobi on his motorcycle.
“When we were leaving, we lost him at some point. We met at the merging road to Thika. He was on his bike. I fueled his bike, and we proceeded. This was around 4 a.m. We went until just past KU. He waved at us as he took an exit, and we proceeded with our journey,” Obinna recalled in a video shared online.
The Obinna Show host said that a few hours later, they received devastating news that the Ni Tekenye hitmaker had been involved in a crash and was in critical condition.
“Shalkido alipata accident. Ako na internal bleeding kwa brain, imefura. Mguu yake ya left imevunjika. Wanasema the most important thing now is the brain. Wanangoja ipoe as they wait for a neurosurgeon,” Obinna added, saying doctors had confirmed severe head injuries and a broken leg.
At the time of Obinna’s visit, Shalkido was reportedly unconscious, with his father and close relatives by his side.
The video has since gone viral, drawing an outpouring of concern from fans and fellow celebrities.
Comedian Terence Creative commented, “Quick recovery,” while another fan, Alma, expressed concern over road safety, writing, “Pole sana Shalkido. Lakini honestly as a biker I feel so bad that alipewa tu senke na akaingia kwa road bila any training. Anyone reading this, please be careful on the road and bikers always wear your gear.”
The incident comes just months after Shalkido was gifted the motorbike to help him start a business venture.
The musician had earlier opened up online about facing tough times marked by financial struggles and the pressures of parenthood.
